Kang Yatse Clean up Expedition
Event Location: Leh, Kashmir
Event Description: MCRT 190 secretary was successful in summiting Kang Yatse (20724ft, 6280m) in the Markha valley of Leh. After putting the MCRT 190 flag on the summit, he along with their expedition team mates, cleaned nearly 40 Kg worth of trash on the way down and from all the campsites. His team mates were part of the IMF ( Indian mountaineering foundation) and they were interested in doing more such expeditions, where the IMF will conduct the expedition and MCRT 190 will fund the clean up. The clean up was necessary as the biodegradable trash in the campsites is burnt and not disposed of in a proper way. The expedition is to be featured in the Indian Mountaineering journal soon. We also informed the team members who are from Mumbai and Kolkatta about the initiatives RTI does for education and have promised to spread the word to their close friends and family members.
